Most people are unaware of a program available to homeowners in New Jersey.

The State program available to you affords you the opportunity to replace your existing heating equipment and better insulate your home. If you can increase your home's energy usage by 25%, you will qualify for a rebate check of up to $3000 plus a $1500 federal tax credit.

As part of the program a state certified contractor would perform an energy audit of your home. This audit costs $125.00 and will take approximately 3 hours. On completion of the audit you will receive the estimated percentage savings you would experience and the scope of the work to be performed. If you desire to proceed, the paperwork is sent to the state and a confirmation is delivered to you. The work is then performed and the contractor is paid in full. A confirming audit is then performed and the paperwork is sent to the state for payment. Payment to the customer is approximately 4 – 6 months directly from the State of New Jersey to you.

The key is to achieve a reduction in your home energy costs. In most houses this can be achieved solely by upgrading the heating system and insulating the home.
